Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek

Max Elevation: 1338 m, Kathmandu

Welcome to Himalayan country Nepal! Upon your arrival, our representatives will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and escort you to the respective hotel.

Later in our office, you’ll attend a brief orientation about Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek. In the evening, you’ll enjoy the delicious welcome dinner at one of the typical Nepalese restaurants.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

After early morning breakfast, we’ll go on the sightseeing tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. We’ll visit Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

After completing the sightseeing tour, you’ll return to the hotel and prepare for Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek.

Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Travel Duration: 8 hrs

Max Elevation: 1,905 m, Jiri

We’ll begin our long trek to Everest Base Camp with the long drive to Jiri. We’ll take a local bus and head towards the north east of Kathmandu. Following the Araniko Highway and enjoying the beautiful sights of Langtang, Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and Koshi river, we reach Jiri for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 5.5 hours

Max Elevation: 2,200 m, Bhandara

Today we’ll begin our trek from Jiri and head towards Bhandara. The trail offers beautiful countryside scenery. Slowly we drop down to Shivalaya and pass via uneven roads we reach a small settlement at Bhandara. It is a Sherpa village with huge Tibetan monuments resting on the meadow and terrace field. Upon arrival, you can explore the local village.

Trek Duration: 6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,645 m, Sete

After breakfast, we’ll begin our trek to Sete. We follow the trail that leads us to downhill at Likhu Khola. Here we’ve to cross the bridge, and the winding path leads us to a small charming village at Kinja.

Further, we’ll make a slow uphill climb with amazing views of the surrounding landscapes. After walking for a couple of hours, we’ll reach Sete, a small Sherpa village for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 2,675 m, Junbesi

Today we begin our trek and make a gradual climb to Lamjura Pass at 3,530 m above the sea level. We’ll pass via small scattered farmhouses and teahouses. Following a beautiful rhododendron forest trail, we’ll reach the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar. From the top of the path, we’ll again descend to Taktor via the forest trail.

Further, we’ll traverse on the north side of the valley before dropping down to the Sherpa village of Junbesi for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 2,440 m, Nunthala

Today the trail crosses the Junbesi Khola over the wooden bridge. We’ll follow the left-hand trail, and that leads steeply in and out of side ridge to Khurtang. Here, we’ll get the first glimpse of Mt. Everest, Mt. Thamserku, and Mera Peak.

Enjoying the view, we’ll turn to the north and continue our trek. Further, we descend to the suspension bridge over the Ringmo Khola and ascend to Ringmo village. The trail descends via conifer and rhododendron forest and crosses many streams on wooden bridges just before we reach Nunthala.

Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,020 m, Kharikhola

From Nunthala, we descend to Dudh Koshi river and cross the large suspension bridge. Continue our walk via forests, we’ll make a gradual climb and reach the Rai village of Junbing. From Jubing, the trail leads us via terraced field, and after few hours of walk, we reach Kharikhola for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,700 m, Puiyan

Today we’ll begin our trek with a steep climb to Bupsa (Bumsing) village. We’ll climb to the ridge and pass mani wall with the view of Mt. Khumbila and Mt. Cho Oyu and reach Kharte village. Further, we’ll climb to Khari La Pass and descend to Puiyan for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,646 m, Phakding

In the morning, we’ll begin our trek from Puiyan and pass Surke village. Further, we’ll cross Surke Khola and continue our walk along the bank of Dudh Koshi river. Enroute we’ll traverse Cheplung Khola, and reach Cheplung village. The view of Kusum Kanguru is truly breathtaking!

After walking for a couple of hours and passing several mani walls, prayer wheels, and prayer flags, we reach Phakding for an overnight stay.

Max Elevation: 3,441 m, Namche Bazaar

Today, after breakfast, we’ll head towards the major Sherpa settlement Namche Bazaar. It is also known as the gateway to Mt. Everest. This village has modern facilities including a luxurious hotel, bakery cafe, restaurants, pubs, and souvenir shops.

Crossing a long suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi river the trail leads us via pine forests. Soon we’ll pass via different beautiful settlement including Benkar, Monjo, Chimoa, and Jorsole. We’ll enter into Sagarmatha National Park permit checkpoint.

Further, we’ll cross a high Tenzing- Hillary suspension bridge. Enroute we’ll get the fabulous view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse. After continuous walk for 3 hours via wonderful pine forest, finally, we reach Namche Bazaar.

Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Trek Duration: 5 hours

Max Elevation: 3,962 m, Everest View Hotel

Today is the acclimatization day of the trek. Instead of being idle and lazy, we’ll hike to nearby Everest View Hotel where we can enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of Mt. Everest and surrounding snow-capped peaks. We can also visit the Sherpa Museum which is a great place to learn about the Sherpa culture and the history of mountaineering in the region.

Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Trek Duration: 5 hours

Max Elevation: 3,680 m

After breakfast, we start our trek with the great views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt Ama Dablam, and close up view of Mt. Thamserku. The trail descends to Sansa via Kayangjuma; we reach the main trail junction to the Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp.

The trail further takes us to the Mong La Pass which also offer great views of Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Khumila, and Mt. Thamserku. We continue our trek and descend to Dudh Koshi river crossing a bridge and further ascend via rhododendron forest and finally reach Phortse Thanga for an overnight stay. Phortse Thanga is a beautiful village located beside the peaks of Tawache and Cholatse.

Max Elevation: 4,470 m

Today we’ll continue our trek with a moderate walk with few up and downs. Enroute we’ll spot Himalayan wildlife including Musk Deer, Mountain Goat, Himalayan Thar, and colorful Pheasant. Walking via forest trail and enjoying the beautiful waterfalls and crossing some bridges we reach Dole.

Further, continuing our trek via ridge over Dole we’ll ascend via Lhabrama. We continue our walk with spectacular views of Mt. Kantega, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Cho Oyu. Then we’ll ascend via Luza to Dudh Koshi valley and walk along the roaring Dudh Koshi river and finally reach Machherma for an overnight stay.

Max Elevation: 4,790 m

Machhermo is one of the largest settlement on the way to Gokyo. Leaving behind Machhermo, we’ll climb via a ridge Chorten which offer a fantastic view of Kangtega and Thamserku.

Further, the trail passes via a bank of the river and ascends the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier. Here, we’ll have the first glimpse of the first lake. Ahead of the second lake that offers a mesmerizing view of the sparkling blue water. And the third lake is a little ahead of the second lake. A stream links both lakes. Gokyo valley stands by the third lake.

Trek Duration: 5 hours

Max Elevation: 5,483 m. Gokyo Ri

Today, we’ll hike to the Gokyo Ri, the perfect viewpoint in the Everest region. The view from the top is merely mesmerizing and gives a panoramic mountain view of the Khumbu region.

Besides the mountain view, Gokyo is famous for its great lakes. We can also visit the fourth lake (Thonak Tsho) and fifth lake (Ngozumpa Tsho). We can also climb a hill at the edge of the lakes to get the views of Mt. Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makalu.

From the northern side of the fifth lake, we’ll get the astonishing view of the base camp of Cho Oyu. The view of the world’s biggest glacier- Ngozumpa glacier is another highlight of today’s trip.

After exploring these wonderful places, we’ll return to a tea house for a night stay.

Max Elevation: 4,500 m

Early in the morning, leaving behind the amazing Gokyo valley, we’ll head towards Thangnak. At first, we’ll descend the second lake below Gokyo valley. Then the trail leads us via Nogumpa Glacier. After crossing glacier, we’ll ascend to the ridge and reach Thangnak for an overnight stay.

Max Elevation: 5,300m, Cho La Pass

Another most awaited day of this adventure trip, crossing one of the high passes of the Everest region! Today, we should start our trek before sunrise as bad weather conditions can hit during noon time. So if we cross the Cho La Pass late, it is a risk, as we may expose with the strong winds.

At first, we’ll ascend to the ridge and descend to the bottom of Cho La Pass. Slowly, we’ll ascend to the top of Pass. As we reach the top, we’ll get the jaw-dropping views of snow-capped mountains. Again, we’ll slowly descend back to Dzongla for an overnight stay.

The accommodation facilities are basic because of its remoteness. The food we’ll get to eat is a typical traditional food “Nepalese Dal Bhat.”

Note: If there is a lot of snow in the top of Cho La, then it’ll be impossible for us to cross the high pass. In this case, we’ll follow the alternative route. We’ll trek to Phortse and follow the Everest Base Camp route via Lobuche.

Today, trek is relatively easy and short from our earlier day. If our health conditions are fine, then we can also trek directly to Gorak Shep too. Following the pleasant trial with simple up and down we reach Lobuche for an overnight stay.

Max Elevation: 5,365 m, Everest Base Camp

Today is another exciting day of our trip. Finally, the day arrived where your dream to be on the base of the world’s highest mountain will come true. Everest Base Camp is the base where climbers or mountaineers prepare themselves to climb the highest peak in the world.

No, any words can express the feeling of being there. It’s a magical moment to stand on the base of the world’s highest point.

At first, the trail takes us through the rocky and windy path, and we reach Gorak Shep. After taking short rest, we’ll leave our backpack here and head towards the base camp.

Trek Duration: 7 hours

Max Elevation: 5,555 m, Kala Patthar

We’ll go for an early morning hike to Kala Patthar and enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Everest. After enjoying the view, we’ll trek down to Gorak Shep and head towards Pheriche. Pheriche is a small yet culturally rich village.

Overnight stay at Pheriche.

Trek Duration: 7 hours

Max Elevation: 3,441 m

We’ll continue our walk via the hidden valley of Khumbu. The trail leads us to the base of Mt. Khumbila. Passing via Khumjung village we’ll head down via rhododendron forests and walk along the local tea houses. And, we’ll reach Namche Bazaar for an overnight stay.

Trek Duration: 6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,804 m, Lukla

From Namche, we’ll retrace our route to Lukla via the Dudh Koshi valley. While descending, we’ll get the reflection of the past days, and with unforgettable memories, we’ll arrive at Lukla. We’ll celebrate our last evening of the trek with our team and other trekkers.

Max Elevation: 2804 m, Lukla

After early morning breakfast, we’ll head towards the Lukla airport. The short and scenic flight lands at the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International Airport. Our guide will transfer you to the respective hotel, and you can take rest.

Overnight at Kathmandu.

Your adventurous Jiri Everest Base Camp Trek is over. Today is leisure day at Kathmandu. You can walk around the city and visit the oldest market of the Kathmandu Asan and Indrachowk.

In the evening, you’ll join the farewell dinner in the typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural Nepali dance and music.
