Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja La Pass is one of the adventurous treks of the Langtang region. This beautiful trekking route takes you through the Langtang Valley over the Ganja La Pass.

Langtang Valley “Valley of Glaciers” is one of the closet Himalaya regions from Kathmandu Valley. The 14 days Langtang Valley Trek with Ganja La Pass will offer you ample time to explore it.

The adventurous trek commences with an eight hours drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Then the trail goes through Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Kyanjin Gompa. And crosses the mighty Ganja La Pass to end at Melamchi Bazaar in the Helambu region.

The major highlight of this adventurous trek is crossing over the Ganja La Pass. It is one of the difficult Himalaya passes at an altitude of 5,132 m. Although the pass is challenging, you can enjoy the breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks from the pass.

Dense rhododendron forests, bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, small streams, and snow-capped mountains make this trek more exciting, challenging, and adventurous.

The people of this region are mostly Tibetan who are the descendants of the Tibetans from Kerung village. The culture and traditions of this region are similar to Tibet just across the border.

This trek is doable throughout the year. But the best time for this trek is spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November).

Day 1
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu

Max Elevation: 1338 m, Kathmandu

Our representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. S/he will transfer you to the respective hotel in our private tourist vehicle.

After some rest, we will call for a small team meeting about the trek details and necessary equipment. In the evening, we’ll organize a welcome dinner program at the traditional Nepalese restaurant. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and Preparation for the Trek

Today after breakfast, your sightseeing trip will start. We’ll provide you with a private vehicle and a professional tour guide. You’ll visit some UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites. Like Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The rest of your time is free for further exploration. You can do some last-minute shopping in Thamel area for trekking essentials. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Syabru Besi

Travel Duration: 8-9 hours drive

Max Elevation:1,550 m, Syabru Besi

Today early in the morning, you’ll drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. It’ll take approximately 7-8 hours by public bus. This scenic drive offers beautiful views of the river, terraced fields, small villages, and snow-capped mountains.

Enjoying the countryside view, first, you’ll come across a little busy town called Dhunche. And finally, you’ll reach Syabru Besi for an overnight stay.

Day 4
Day 04: Trek to Lama Hotel

Trek Duration: 6 hours

Max Elevation: 2,380 m, Lama Hotel

Today you’ll commence your trek from Syabru Besi towards Lama Hotel. Crossing the Bhote Koshi river to reach Langtang Khola the trail ascends up to Bamboo.

Further, you’ll climb gently to Rimche and finally, you reach the Lama Hotel. En route you may spot some rare wild species like Red Pandas and Himalayan Thar. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek to Mundu via Langtang Village

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 3,430 m, Langtang Village

After breakfast, you embark your journey to Langtang Village. Also known as “Valley of Glaciers.” The first part of the trail follows the Langtang Khola. And then enter into dense forests of rhododendron, oak, and maple. Here you can witness white monkey and local birds.

Likewise, you’ll pass different small settlement like Gumnachowk, Chhunama, and Ghodatabela. At Ghodatabela, there is an office of Langtang National Park. Here you need to check your permits and continue the trek towards Langtang Village.

Further, along the way, you’ll enjoy the marvelous views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). You’ll pass through many chortens, prayer flags, and mani walls before you reach Langtang village.

Langtang Village is the largest and oldest settlements along this trekking route. You’ll spend a night at the teahouse of Langtang Village.

Day 6
Day 06: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

Trek Duration: 4-5 hours

Max Elevation: 3,870 m, Kyanjin Gompa

Today is the short walk but enough for acclimatization. You’ll gradually climb up and pass mani wall and Sindu old village to reach Kyanjin Gompa. Once you reach, you’ll get a mesmerizing view of Langtang Lirung and all range.

In Kyanjin Gompa, there are some interesting places to explore. Especially famous Cheese Factory- remember to try some locally produced cheese. You can also visit an ancient Buddhist monastery. You’ll spend a night at the teahouse of Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 7
Day 07: Acclimatization Day: Explore Tserko Ri

Trek Duration: 7-8 hours

Max Elevation: 5,000 m, Tserko Ri

Today is the acclimatization day, you’ll climb Tserko Ri along the steep trail. On the way, you can see outstanding views of surroundings peak.

From the top of Tserko Ri, you’ll get panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Shishapangma, Langshisha Ri, Yala Peak, Naya Kang, and many surrounding peaks. After enjoying the breathtaking mountain views, you’ll trek down to the teahouse at Kyanjin Gompa for an overnight stay.

Day 8
Day 08: Trek to Ngegang

Trek Duration: 5-6 hours

Max Elevation: 4,000 m, Ngegang

The next day, you’ll head towards Ngegang. Today you’ll cross the Langtang river and make a steep climb via forests of rhododendron and juniper.

Further, crossing a suspension bridge over Langtang Khola you’ll arrive at Chhana Lake before you reach Ngegang. After a long demanding walk today you’ll spend a night at Ngegang.

Day 9
Cross the Ganja La Pass and Trek to Keldang

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 4,250 m, Ganja La Pass

Today is a strenuous day as you have to cross the Ganja La Pass. This pass is one of the difficult Himalayan passes covered with ice throughout the year.

However, you’ll experience a great view and the special feeling of accomplishment on crossing the pass. From the pass, you’ll descend down to Keldang for an overnight stay.

Day 10
Day 10: Trek to Dukpu

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 4,080 m, Ngegang

Today you’ll start descending along the ridge with the mesmerizing view of a snow-capped mountain. Following the ridge-line and passing through a small settlement, you’ll reach Dukpu for an overnight stay.

Day 11
Day 11: Trek to Tarkeghyang

Trek Duration: 6-7 hours

Max Elevation: 2,590 m, Tarkeghyang

Today the first part of the trail is uphill and then downhill. You’ll lose altitude of about 1,500 meters. Along the way, you’ll witness spectacular views of Annapurna and Everest region.

Further, the trail descends through the pine and rhododendron forests and reach a tiny settlement called Tarkekhyang. You can also visit one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries there.

Moreover, this Tarkeghyang village is one of the main villages of the Helambu region. There you’ll get an opportunity to experience the hospitality of friendly local people. Overnight stay at Tarkeghyang village.

Day 12
Day 12: Trek to Sermathang

Trek Duration: 8-9 hours

Max Elevation: 2,610 m, Sermathang

Today you’ll head towards Sermathang leaving behind the beautiful village of Tarkeghyang. You’ll pass through flatland and walk through beautiful villages and jungles.

On crossing some small streams on the way you’ll reach another beautiful Sherpa village- Sermathang. In this village, you can visit many ancient monasteries. You’ll also get a wonderful view of the north face of Jugal Himal from Sermathang village.

Overnight stay at the teahouse of Sermathang.

Day 13
Day 13: Trek to Melamchi Bazaar and Drive to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner in the Evening

Trek Duration: 3-4 hours

Travel Duration: 3-4 hours

Max Elevation: 1,338 m

Today is the final day of your trek. Leaving behind charming Sherpa village, you’ll gradually descend towards Melamchi Bazaar. It’ll be a quite pleasant walk with the awesome views of snow-capped peaks.

Further, the trail gradually descends all the way to Melamachi Bazaar.

Here you’ll stop for some time and then drive back to Kathmandu. For the evening meal, you will join us at our post-trek session. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 14
Day 14: Transfer to the International Airport for Final Departure

Today is your last day in the Himalayan country, Nepal. As per your flight schedule, our representative will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport.
